Assignment 1 – Publication Outline

Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten – Building Independence Through Digital Resources

This assignment asked me to create a publication outline based on my innovation plan. The goal was to begin thinking about why publishing matters, where my work could be submitted, and how my classroom experience could inspire other educators. Following the guidelines, I developed an outline for an article about my innovation, Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten, which uses QR codes, i-Ready, and simple routines to help young learners build independence with digital tools.

Through this process, I realized that publishing is not only about sharing research but also about giving a voice to teachers in practice. Outlining my article helped me connect my daily classroom experiences with a larger audience and identify journals and platforms, such as Edutopia, the ISTE Blog, and Tech & Learning, that value real classroom examples. I also reflected on lessons learned, such as the power of simple routines, and on the challenges I still face, like supporting students who struggle with basic technology skills.

This assignment encouraged me to see myself as a thought leader who can contribute to the field by sharing authentic classroom practices. Even small strategies, when documented and shared, can help other educators save time, foster independence in their students, and approach digital learning with confidence (Donohue, 2015; Neumann, 2018).
