As part of a collaborative reflection, my classmates and I worked on a project called Connecting the Dots, inspired by a video that reminded us how powerful each learning experience can be especially when it’s guided by someone who believes in us.
This project helped me think deeply about how we, as educators, can leave lasting impressions on our students not just through what we teach, but through how we make them feel in the process. In my own classroom, I’m very intentional about creating a space where my students feel safe, seen, and excited to learn.
I’ve had wonderful teachers in my life who inspired me to love school but I also experienced moments that made me feel the opposite. Those difficult memories now fuel my passion to be the kind of teacher who helps children enjoy learning and want to come to school every day. Because that, to me, is the true heart of education.

I may never know which moments my students will remember but I hope they’ll remember that learning felt joyful, safe, and full of possibility. – Angela M. Rios
