Recognizing the Misperceptions

Introduction

This collaborative discussion reflects my early exploration of action research as part of the EDLD 5315 course in the Applied Digital Learning program. Through the readings from Action Research: Improving Schools and Empowering Educators (Mertler, 2019) and the accompanying instructional videos, I examined how action research differs from traditional academic research and how it can be used as a practical tool for improving instructional practice.

The purpose of this reflection was to analyze the stages and steps of the action research process while connecting these ideas to my developing innovation project, Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten. This discussion also provided an opportunity to engage with peers, refine my research focus, and begin identifying the types of data needed to measure student independence during technology-supported learning routines. These collaborative conversations strengthened my understanding of how systematic reflection and data collection can guide meaningful improvements in classroom practice.
