Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten – Empowering Teachers to Use QR Codes for Independent Math Centers

Personal Reflection – Tech Time: My Time (Fink’s 3 Column Table)

Designing “Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten” using Fink’s 3 Column Table helped me bring to life an idea that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time: creating a technology center where my students can feel confident, independent, and engaged while learning math. I chose this topic because I know how much my kindergarteners enjoy using iPads — and I wanted that excitement to be connected to real learning.

Using Fink’s model gave me clarity and structure. It helped me organize my thinking and be intentional about every part of the plan: What do I want students to learn? How will they practice it? And how will I know if they’ve learned it? The framework also reminded me that learning is not just about knowledge — it’s about how students feel, how they grow as individuals, and how they connect to what they’re doing.

One of the most valuable things I’ve realized through this process is that even very young learners are capable of much more than we sometimes expect — especially when we trust them, give them tools, and guide them with care. I feel proud to have designed a space where they can work independently, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning.

This experience has inspired me to keep looking for creative ways to combine structure with freedom — and planning with heart. I’m excited to keep building on this idea, and to collaborate with others who believe that innovation in early childhood education is not only possible, but necessary.
