Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten
This post presents the Action Research Design Outline developed for EDLD 5315. This outline represents the planning phase of an action research project and builds directly on the innovation plan Tech Time: My Time in Kindergarten, originally developed in EDLD 5305: Disruptive Innovation in Technology.
The purpose of this outline is to clearly define the research focus, research question, design, data sources, and measurement strategies that will guide a future action research study. At this stage, the work does not include implementation or data analysis.
The complete Action Research Design Outline is available in the Google Doc linked below. A visual summary of the outline is also included through a Canva presentation to support clarity and accessibility for a broader audience.

Action Research Planning Tools
As part of the planning phase for this action research project, two required planning tools were completed and are included as foundational components of the research design.
The 5 Why Process was used to identify the root cause of the instructional problem by systematically examining factors affecting student independence during technology center rotations in kindergarten mathematics. This process supported a clear and focused problem definition grounded in classroom observation and instructional context.

Additionally, the Action Research Design Development table was completed to ensure alignment among the research topic, purpose, research question, data sources, and overall research design. This planning tool supports coherence and parallel structure across all elements of the study and informed the final Action Research Design Outline.
ActionResearchDesign – Answers
These planning tools guided the development of the research question, selection of a mixed-methods design, identification of appropriate data sources, and clarification of measurement strategies for this action research project.
